In the last month Australian Graffiti and street artist Fintan Magee has been busy painting a series of street based works in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The pieces are a series of abandoned building paintings and road side pieces that explore the artists Northern Irish Catholic hertitage. His work is influenced by the large militant murals painted by the IRA and the UFF. Combining celtic and catholic symbology they explore the role of culture and religion in shaping the identity of Irish nationalists when faced with conflict, poverty and sectarianism. The paintings aim to highlight loss and point out the absurdites of war. To see more work from the artist check out: fintanmagee.com
