How are these figures calculated?
Countries and cities are identified by matching tags exactly against an editable location directory. Regional tags such as “scandinavia”, “california” or “south-america” are not countries. Countries are not automatically inferred from cities. Some places may be missing from the directory, and name variants may remain separate. Geographic totals are therefore not exhaustive.
A photo may have several places or tags, so ranking totals should not be added together. The map shows all recognised countries with photo totals for the entire country, and opens centred on Europe. Figures are recalculated each time the dashboard is opened.
