The motto seems to be:
"Build a favela in a gallery/museum, after it, be worried about your clothes brand."

These actions doesn't connect you with poverty, you try to say "what a humble persons we are" but the only thing you do is to uncover your stupidity. If I live in a favela that would not represent me, with that "artwork" you are screaming us you don't know anything about misery. Don't use misery pointlessly to give spectacle please.

Not at all. My work is not based on poverty.
One of the reason why I am doing art in public space is to show art in places where people is not used to deal with it and by the way, make Art more democratic.

This installation is inspired in the experience we had during our last trip to Rio de Janeiro when we went to paint in the favela Gardiena Azul. Painting in the streets of a favela was the more extreme public Art experience I ever had. Everybody was really happy to have us here, they were asking to us for painting their doors and they really enjoyed the result.

The work is called "eigenkunstruktion" what means "Auto(Art)Construction" and it is based on the concept of space invasion just like the favelas grow and that's why we call our constuctions "Favela" or "Invasao". We build them with the materials we found around and let the construction adapt itself to the space.

...what I like about the project is that it seems to be a "tactile" translation of both Eltono's and Nuria's visuals...i like this element of letting go the visuals, but translating them object, an "allout-experience". Although the translation of the favela-vibe seems to be a personal one, and gets a strange meaning connected to the context of Berlin, the title of the work, an artspace etc. i agree on that...

Also the tunnel-work seems to have been a popular item, reminds me a lot of the work of the Mentary brothers;

but also look at this strange traslation of climb-through-letters for the RED BULL art beat-festival;

It seems there is an urge to "climb back into the womb" of graffiti? :wink:
