I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of "Action Painting Bringing Art To The Train" from Publikat a bit before it is available (the title comes out in May 2009 ).
You probably already have heard about it as some pages were published in the last Stylefile magazine and on a few blogs.
This is a new book strictly about graffiti trains. It is a collection of photos from the cream of euro writers from the last 15 years.
The buzz is extremely good, so does the book keep its promise ?
- ABSOLUTELY !
There's not a single piece in that book you could ask yourself "why do they choose this one ?" All the photos are unique. Some are unknown, some pieces made history, some are humoristic, some are incredibly original...
Any book writer could be inspired by this and publish only the best of the best in his book.
I thought the book was only about graffiti without classic name writing pieces. But it is not, there's for example a chapter called Typograffiti with pieces from Pum, Font, Vino...
People like Mellie, Milk, Fume, Hulk share some of their personal stories or explain why they painted a particular piece.
There are 6 pages with photos of Springfields characters.
The author say: "Bart Simpsons has much in common with most of the graffiti-writers painting on trains"
I think any train lover must have in his book collection 4 books : Subway art, Sabotage, Heavy Metal from Alex Fakso and ACTIONPAINTING.
