FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“BUILDINGS AND BRIDGES” AN EXHIBITION FROM BOXI
YOUR LOCAL STENCILIST, COMING IN FROM THE COLD.
MARCH 23rd 2007 8 pm
The street artist (notoriously not known as) Boxi will be exhibiting his latest paintings and life sized multilayered stencils at the Deathless Gallery in Mitte.
A gallery in its first year, dedicated to the showing of international stencilists and street artists. Boxi’s latest work, “Buildings and bridges” addresses the encroaching and often unpremeditated art of graffiti eradication in Berlin, highlighting the difficulties of exhibiting the internal outside and the external inside. Boxi’s installation forges a link between the poles of high art and the grey area of post graffiti, playfully commenting upon the state of exclusion of one from the other.
On an account of documenting one of his works on the street before it was painted over, Boxi had an encounter with the shop owner who commented on the piece by saying, “I’m not bothered, we will get him anyway, look, he has left his name here, BIXI or something.”
Boxi was pretty desperate when he came to our Gallery, and we thought it was something well worth celebrating…
The works will be on display from March 23rd at the Deathless Gallery.
